LG to Provide LTE Equipment for NTT DoCoMo

Korea's LG Electronics announced that it has been selected by Japanese telecom operator NTT DoCoMo for the supply of 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) equipment, Telecoms Korea reported on April 27, 2009. NTT DoCoMo is expected to adopt LG's data devices embedded with LTE modem chips when the operator starts commercial LTE service in 2010. It is reported that LG's LTE modem chip supports both TDD (Time Division Duplex) and FDD (Frequency Division Duplex) technologies and is capable of sustaining 100Mbps download speeds and 50Mbps upload speeds.
